Liverpool contact police over viral video of Mohamed Salah using mobile phone while driving

The Reds star might come in for punishment after appearing to operate his mobile device behind the wheel
Liverpool have alerted the Merseyside Police about a viral video of Mohamed Salah using his mobile phone while driving.
In a footage circulating Twitter - presumed to be taken after the striker had led his team to a 4-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday afternoon - the Egypt international was filmed using his phone behind the wheel in traffic.
Fans, including kids, were jostling for the forward's attention, which he paid none. Salah continued on his device as he wheeled away from the traffic.
However, Liverpool, via a spokesperson, said that they have made the police aware of the situation; one believed to have prompted their tweet.
The club will not make further comment on the matter as they would deal with the issue 'internally.
"The club, after discussion with the player, have made Merseyside Police aware of the footage and the circumstances surrounding its capture," read the statement, as reported in the Liverpool Echo.
"We have spoken to the player also and will deal with any follow-up internally.
"Neither the club or player will be making any further comment on this matter."

Muntari walks off field during Pescara's game at Cagliari due to alleged racist abuse

Pescara midfielder Sulley Muntari walked off the field in protest at alleged racist chants during his side's 1-0 defeat to Cagliari on Sunday.
Chelsea sweep to win and close in on title
The Ghana international appealed to the referee to stop the game, claiming the home support were racially abusing him.
But referee Daniele Minelli apparently did not hear the chants and instead opted to book the former Inter player for dissent.
Muntari then walked off the field, leaving the already relegated Pescara to finish the game with 10 men.

Pescara coach Zdenek Zeman criticised the decision to punish the 32-year-old instead of dealing with the alleged abuse.
"Muntari asked the referee to intervene, but he did not do it," he told reporters. "We talk so much about racism, but then we just move on. This happened to Muntari who has played in Italy for several years - we want to change the mentality.
"He left the field because of the chants, but we should not have to take justice into our own hands."

Muntari was not the first apparent victim of racial abuse in Italy on Sunday, as Roma director Frederic Massara said defender Antonio Rudiger suffered from it in his side's 3-1 loss to Lazio.
"He was very angry with the racist chanting we had to put up with," he said. "It's a shame you still hear these things."
Guardiola reveals Aguero injury & explains ill-fated wing-back system
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says Sergio Aguero picked up an injury during the 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough.
Aguero was seen clutching his groin towards the end of the match and Guardiola admitted afterwards: “Tomorrow we will see but I think he is injured.”
Sources at City say the Argentine is suffering from a dead leg, but Guardiola’s demeanour suggested the issue could be more serious.

Aguero scored a penalty at the Riverside Stadium after being selected to start alongside Gabriel Jesus for the first time this season.
Guardiola used a 3-4-1-2 formation to be able to get both men in the same line-up and although both did end up on the scoresheet - with Jesus heading in City’s second equaliser of the afternoon - the Catalan was forced into a rethink at half-time with Boro leading.
After the game he explained his thinking behind his initial starting line-up, but admitted his best intentions were quickly undone when the relegation battlers doubled up on his wing-backs.
“[I wanted] to put together Sergio and Gabriel in front,” he told reporters. “I didn’t want to put Kevin [De Bruyne] as a holding midfielder, I prefer to put Kevin more in contact with our full-backs, especially on the right side with Jesus Navas and have two strikers in the box.
“For the first five or 10 minutes it was good but then we had problems to control the two-versus-one they created on the sides. In the last 10 minutes we changed it a little bit and in the second half we played wingers versus wingers.”

Guardiola’s team looked better for that change at half-time but were unable to seal a victory would which have put them into third place ahead of Liverpool’s game at Watford on Monday.
But the Catalan insists his team deserved to win the match: “Fortunate? I don’t know, I don’t think so. We deserved to win, definitely. In the second half we made absolutely everything. They crossed the line twice.

“We were much better in the second half.”
Chelsea are going to win the title, so why would they want Lukaku?

Chelsea don't need to enter the transfer market with any sense of desperation to re-sign Romelu Lukaku in the summer after passing the biggest test left in their bid to regain the Premier League title following a 3-0 win over Everton.
Lukaku, who is reportedly valued at £100 million by Everton as he looks for a move to a bigger club in the summer, completely failed his audition in front of Antonio Conte and Chelsea's money men at Goodison Park.
The Belgian striker would be a good addition to the squad but he is not worth re-signing for the money Everton will demand and the pressure which would accompany such a fee.
Paul Pogba has struggled to live up to his billing as the world's most expensive footballer and Chelsea don't need to follow Manchester United or Real Madrid in signing marketable 'galacticos'.
Reportedly wanted as a replacement for Diego Costa, Lukaku was out-performed by the Spain international. Costa also failed to score, but his all-round play was much more effective and influential.
Chelsea
When Lukaku misfires, he offers very little but, when Costa does, he contributes far more. He works hard, gets on the ball and occupies defenders, even on his bad days. His pass to Cesc Fabregas helped to tee up the third goal.
Chelsea's match-going fans still chanted for Costa throughout his recent seven-game goal drought and there is appreciation for his efforts, even if they sometimes get him into trouble. It was the longest run without a goal inhis career, and a period in which he produced some of his worst performances, but his contribution earlier in the season must not be forgotten.

For all that Lukaku remains the Premier League's top scorer, and is arguably a better finisher than Costa, Conte will be questioning whether the Everton striker can do it in the biggest games. He has scored only three of his goals versus the top six, while he has 17 against the bottom 10.
Even Enner Valencia outshone Lukaku in this game and his five shots did little to cause Chelsea concern.
Romelu Lukaku stats
It ultimately proved to be a comfortable victory for Chelsea once Pedro had provided a moment of brilliance to light up a dull game on 66 minutes. Gary Cahill added a second from a corner for his eighth goal of the season as Everton's shambolic defending was punished by the league leaders, who scored a late third through Willian.
Chelsea's players have delivered an incredible week for their fans with two league wins over Southampton and Everton after an FA Cup semi-final win against Tottenham. They scored 10 goals and finally got their first clean sheet in their last 14 games.
The club's team spirit has been a huge factor in their return to greatness this season and any big-name signings in the summer will have to bed into a group that is already working well.
Chelsea's stars looked set for the scrapheap last season after they finished 10th under Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink but the group have pulled together brilliantly under new leadership.
Conte repeatedly repeats the mantra that any transfer stories are "disrespectful to my players" and he is right. The current group of Chelsea players must be appreciated for their incredible achievements and performances.
The Blues boss has proven he is a genius and his players have demonstrated that they are anything but finished. Everyone at Chelsea - from the fans, to the manager, to the players - must now stick together for a bright future as they embark on European adventures next season.
Deulofeu 'absolutely an option' for Barcelona

The Catalans have confessed that they could be ready to activate a buy-back clause in the attacker's Everton contract after his blistering form
Barcelona are keen on bringing winger Gerard Deulofeu back to Camp Nou.

Barca's defence a major worry:

Deulofeu, a product of the club's famed La Masia academy, made six senior appearances for Barca – all as a substitute – before season-long loan stints at Everton and Sevilla.
He joined the Premier League side permanently in 2015, with Barcelona inserting a buy-back option that appeared unlikely to be activated when he fell out of favour under Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park and joined AC Milan for the rest of this season.
But Deulofeu has been a revelation for the Rossoneri in Serie A and his form earned an international recall – one the 23-year-old grasped by scoring a maiden Spain goal in last month's 2-0 friendly win in France.
His progress has not gone unnoticed at Barca, with sporting director Robert Fernandez giving serious thought towards activating a clause with Everton that is widely reported to stand at €12million.
"Deulofeu, yes, it's absolutely an option for the future," he told TV3.
"The club are considering bringing him back to play for the first team."

Barcelona are on the brink of elimination from the Champions League after losing the first leg of their quarter-final 3-0 at Juventus, while a squad revamp cou

What Man Utd need to do to reach Chelsea's level and win the Premier League next season

The Red Devils have been well short of the level required to challenge Antonio Conte's side, and they need to complement their key players more

It is a team part-built by Jose Mourinho, bearing many of the hallmarks of a Jose Mourinho side and on the verge of another league title for the club with which Jose Mourinho is synonymous. But unfortunately for Manchester United fans, it is Chelsea and not the Red Devils who head into the clash between the two sides on Sunday as champions elect.
Under Antonio Conte the Blues have rediscovered the mojo they lost so spectacularly last season as Mourinho’s crown well and truly slipped and he was asked to depart the Stamford Bridge throne when his side headed for Christmas in 16th place, just one point clear of the relegation zone.
Where Chelsea seemed to have lost much of their edge, their togetherness and their fearless determination last term under Mourinho, Conte has given them a renewed vigour. Without being particularly dazzling or overly dominant in matches, the west London outfit have had a bit of mongrel about them with the Italian in charge.
United, though, have not had that winning edge; victories have not appeared inevitable when they have begun to take the game to their opponents. Simply said, Mourinho’s side do not have the look of champions. Just take a look at their home form as Chelsea come to town. Six wins in 16 home games has never been the form of a team wanting to carry off a league title.
Having spent hundreds of millions of pounds under three different managers, United had been expected by many to push Chelsea closer this season. Like the Blues, they had a new manager and a new project. But whereas Chelsea appeared to be a sense of direction and a modicum of harmony away from being a very competent side, United have looked a rag-tag bunch for the best part of four years.
Antonio Conte
Conte claimed earlier this season that the difference between his side and second-placed Tottenham is a winning mentality.
“I think the difference between Chelsea and Tottenham is this… if you stay in Chelsea and win it’s normal,” Conte said. “If you stay in Tottenham, if you win it’s great but if you lose it’s not a disaster, no? Not a disaster.”
But while for Manchester United losing is very much considered a failure, there has also been that lack of a winning mentality at Old Trafford this term. United could learn from this current Chelsea side not just in terms of the greater energy with which they attack but also in the way they provide the right kind of support for their difference-makers.
Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all came into the setup last summer with the tag of being potential match-winners, but in a squad shy of the right elements alongside them they have too often been asked to deliver individual magic. If they are to emulate Chelsea next season by becoming a title-challenging side they need to round out their team in Mourinho’s vision rather than present a mish-mash of players brought in by three different managers with three very different philosophies.
Pogba’s qualities need to be better complemented by a more forceful midfield partner than a Michael Carrick who is now a fading force and an Ander Herrera who provides a little bit of everything but doesn’t really dominate a midfield. The Frenchman always looked a far bigger danger at Juventus when in the same team as Arturo Vidal, who made it his mission to stamp his impression on a game.

Chelsea Man Utd comparison
Elsewhere, Mourinho needs to either get the best out of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial or get somebody closer to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Too often when Ibra has dropped deep to involve himself in play this season, there has been little effort by the wide attackers to fill the gap left behind in the area. That needs to be addressed either in house or with the addition of a quality central attacking force. The manager himself has spoken more than once about the lack of a Javier Hernandez figure, and it is that sort of intelligence United don’t have right now.
Lapses at the back have also been a concern this season, which can partly be put down to their use of Ibrahimovic and the lack of pressing which goes on further up the pitch as a result. But there also needs to be a leader of men at the heart of their defence.
Where once strode Steve Bruce, Jaap Stam and Nemanja Vidic there is now a chasm awaiting a true defensive rock. Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo have been United’s best two centre-backs under Mourinho, but the Ivorian needs more time to come to terms with the language and the league while Rojo remains a loose cannon on whom the club would do well not to rely.
Mourinho’s spell at United could very well be defined in 2017-18, and the addition of a top centre-back, a dominant, energetic midfielder and an intelligent goal-seeking forward could well make them title hopefuls once more. Moreover, the manager needs to ensure there is the kind of togetherness and kinship in his squad which is currently on show at Stamford Bridge and has been missing at United for four years.

He may have developed something of a reputation for winning titles in his first full season at a club, having done so with Porto, Chelsea and Inter, but in every single spell of his managerial career the ‘Special One’ has delivered a league championship in his second season. Now in his sixth job at the top level, he will be looking to extend that streak at Old Trafford while also regaining some of the mystique he lost in that incredibly miserable title defence at Chelsea in 2015-16.

Photos and a video footage of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials been manhandled for allegedly demanding bribe has emerged online.
Photos of the incident which reportedly occurred in Nnewi, Anambra State on Friday, showed one of the road safety officials being held by his belt, reminiscent of how policemen hold criminals.
Modesty Vitus M Ezenwa who posted the visuals on Facebook narrated that the officers “asked for bribe”.
“The stubborn cyclist refused to offer,” he wrote. “They wanted to ‘arrest ‘ the cycle, the owner refused.”
He noted that some officials ran away, leaving two of their colleagues behind at the mercy of the mob.

Japanese media hailed wonderkid Takefusa Kubo on Sunday after he became the youngest scorer in the J-League at 15 with a super strike for FC Tokyo’s under-23 side.
At 15 years, 10 months and 11 days, Kubo fired the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Cerezo Osaka’s under-23s in a J-League third division game to beat the previous mark.
That was held by Takayuki Morimoto, who scored for Tokyo Verdy two days shy of his 16th birthday in 2004 before going on to play in Italy.
Kubo, a former YouTube sensation dubbed the ‘Japanese Messi’ during his time as a pint-sized member of Barcelona’s youth set-up, broke the record in style, dribbling past two defenders before smashing the ball home from a tight angle.
“I’m just really happy — hopefully I can continue helping the team win like this,” Kubo told local media, with the popular Nikkan Sports daily likening the forward to Argentine and Barca wizard Lionel Messi in its match report.
“I don’t like being compared to Messi,” he added. “But one day I hope to be like him.”
