SUICIDE: Man, 31, Found Dead Hanging On A Tree

A 31-yr-old man identified as Friday Onele was, yesterday, found dead hanging on a tree behind his house at Ameka Ikwo in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

It was gathered that the deceased, a father of three children, who was not living with the wife left no reason for the suicide.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Sylvester Igbo, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), who confirmed the incident, said the man, a farmer was declared missing two days ago.

"A case of missing person was reported at Ikwo Police Station. It was alleged that one Friday Onele, aged 31years from Ameka Ikwo was missing, that he left the house and did not return. A search party was raised to search for him and later, the corpse of the man was seen hanging on a tree in a forest behind his house.

"So far, no foul play has been revealed and because of the decomposing nature of the body, two medical doctors from Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki were invited to carry out autopsy on the body and the corpse was later released to the relations for burial.

"However, the investigation of the matter is still on and at the end of the investigation, the public will be informed of the outcome," PPRO said.
