Imo State University to resume January 6

Owerri - The Imo State University has directed its students to return to the campus on January 6, 2014 for resumption of academic activities.

This followed the suspension of the five-month strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Tuesday.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Ralph Njoku, said in Owerri on Wednesday that the decision to resume next year followed an extensive meeting of the school senate on Tuesday.

According to him, due to the Yuletide, it is not possible for the institution to begin academic activities this year.

He said that normal classes would resume in January.

Njoku said the senate of the school would meet on Wednesday to schedule a new academic calendar for 2014.
