An accident involving an articulated truck carrying a container which fell on a car, occurred today, November 12, in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state.
The incident is one of many accidents involving similar trucks across the nation which seem to have become a frequent concurrence.
Accidents involving the trucks are more prominent in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos which has witnessed several of such accidents this year.
It is not clear if there were casualties in the accident but some witnesses claim one person was incised the car when the incident occurred.
The Lagos state government had vowed to go tough on any trailer and long vehicle that contravenes the law as such, the vehicle will be impounded and made to pay the stipulated fine accordingly.
On Friday, October 30, a similar accident occurred around the busy Bonny Camp bus-top in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Recall that on Wednesday, September 2, a heavy duty container skidded off the Ojuelegba bridge in Lagos and landed on two private cars, crushing the occupants of the vehicles.
Two days after the incident, another articulated truck skidded off along Ikorodu-Shagamu expressway causing serious vehicular obstruction in the axis.
