Taraba Speaker, Haruna Tsokwa, Died This Morning

The late Taraba Speaker, Haruna Tsokwa JALINGO, TARABA STATE - Haruna Tsokwa, Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, passed away this morning at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo. He died from a yet-to-be disclosed illness, after reportedly taking ill on Sunday. His remains were later removed from the FMC Jalingo to Taraba Specialist Hospital. Tsokwa passed away at 47; heart-related ailment is named as a possible cause. The fact of the lawmaker's death was confirmed by Kefas Sule, spokesperson to the Acting Taraba State Governor Garba Umar. He said further comments will be made after the deceased's doctors' reports. Last month, Mr. Tsokwa escaped death when his convoy was attacked. Mr. Tsokwa supported the Acting Governor, who is also the Deputy Governor, Umar Garba, in the ongoing battle for the control of the state. He was among those lawmakers who insisted that Governor Suntai could not resume work after his foreign medical treatment because of his frail state of health.
