Candidate demand cancellation of A’Ibom APC gov primary

All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in
Akwa Ibom State, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, has
threatened to leave the party if the result of Thursday
governorship primary election in the state is not cancelled.
Akpanudoedehe said this on Saturday night in Uyo when
speaking with newsmen.
According to him, he had laboured to build the defunct
Action Congress of Nigeria which later fused into APC,
but only for the former secretary to Akwa Ibom State
Government, Mr. Umana Umana, to hijack the party
and contest an election, less than one week of officially
becoming a member.
He alleged that there were no governorship primaries of
the party in the state. He said, “No single ballot paper
was cast and our party guidelines do not have provision
for Option A-4.”
Akpanudoedeje, however, admitted going to the venue of
the primary at Uyo Township Stadium.
He stated that officials sent from the party headquarters to
conduct the exercise displayed fraudulent activities by
delaying the accreditation till evening in order to
manipulate the result.
He declared that he would appear before an appeal panel
in Uyo on Sunday and show evidence that those that took
part in the primary were non-members of APC, but
people hired from the PDP to cause trouble.
