Again, a renewed attack on Unguwan Dauda village in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the early hours of Wednesday left five persons dead and houses razed by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The Kaduna Police Command has, however, yet to confirm the latest attack on the village, as a call put to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Aminu Lawan’s telephone line was not going through. Also, the messages put through were returned as of the time of filing this report.
But Bezah Wuyah, National President, Ninzom Progressive Youth in the Southern part of the state and the Centrum Initiative for Fundamental Right Advocacy confirmed the attack.
Wuyah said Fulani men in their tens came down from a hill and opened fire on the sleeping villagers at about 4.00am today (Wednesday).
“They have been guiding their cattle into rice farms here, resulting in several quarrels between them and the villagers. But, I can assure you that not a single Fulani man was hurt in the entire times they have been provoking our people.
“It therefore came without warning when they swoop on this village. So far, we can confirm five dead, including a baby from this Unguwan Dauda,” he said.
He then appealed to the Kaduna State Government to increase the number of security men and soldiers in Sanga.
“We fear that the worst may come during Christmas, which is a few days ahead,” he added.
Also, a councillor from the area, Mr. Shehu Ajetu, told our correspondent that the gunmen invaded the village at about 2am and opened fire on the community.
Ajetu said many, including children, were killed and several houses were set ablaze by the rampaging Fulani herdsmen.
He said the injured had been taken to the hospital within the area for medical attention.
