Real Madrid continued their remarkable run of victories in La Liga at the weekend and are now four points clear at the top of the table after Barcelona could only draw at Getafe.

Madrid thrashed Almeria 4-1 on Friday, before Barca dropped two points on Saturday and Atletico lost at home to Villarreal on Sunday.

In goal, Iker Casillas was the hero as he saved a penalty with the scores at 2-1 in Almeria, helping Madrid secure a vital win - their 20th in a row in all competitions - and ultimately extend their lead in La Liga.

At the back, Emiliano Velazquez and Naldo were both superb for Getafe as the Madrid side shut out Barcelona in a goalless game on Sunday, while Victor Ruiz impressed for Villarreal as Marcelino's men beat Atletico at the Vicente Calderon.

Sofiane Feghouli scored twice for Valencia in their 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano, while Isco set Madrid on their way with a superb strike in Almeria, Samu Garcia gave Malaga victory versus Celta Vigo and Luis Farina netted the winner for Deportivo against Elche on Monday.

In attack, Cristiano Ronaldo struck two late goals for Madrid to wrap up an ultimately comfortable win, while Luciano Vietto was excellent against Atletico and scored the goal that beat Diego Simeone's side andCarlos Vela was outstanding for Real Sociedad in the Basque derby against Athletic Bilbao, scoring his side's goal in the 1-1 draw.
