The teenage starlet broke Neymar’s record and joined a select group of marksmen at Santos after his decisive input in the derby with Palmeiras on Tuesday
Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa is one of the biggest young things in Brazilian football today. A left-footed striker with a fine
physique, the 19-year-old has emerged as the brightest prospect to emerge from Santos since Neymar.
A series of eye-catching performances have attracted the attentions of scouts all over Europe, leaving the Brazil international endlessly linked with some of the biggest clubs in the game. And it has now emerged that the teenage superstar could be set for Italy, with Juventus looking increasingly likely to win the hotly-contested race for his signature.

On Tuesday night he arrived at the Alliaz Park to take on local rivals Palmeiras and netted his seventh goal in Sao Paulo derbies, having now scored against every one of Santos’ chief local rivals.
Palmeiras have been his biggest victim - he now has six goals against them – while crosstown reigning champions Corinthians have seen him hit three and Sao Paulo two. Once again this week his derby record is being held up by local media as an illustration that Gabigol is a man for the big occasion.

While doing his best work from wide spaces, he has also shown the ability to play through the middle as a leading striker. Lightening quick and with a knack for being in the right place at the right time, his appetite for goals convinced previous Brazil coach Dunga to take him to June’s Copa America.

Since making his debut in 2013 Gabigol has already broken records, including some left by Neymar, and has become Santos’ all-time top scorer of in the Copa do Brasil.
Gabigol since 2013:
Even Neymar didn't make it 50 goals this quickly. In fact, only Pele and the great Coutinho hit a half-century earlier than teenage Gabigol.
During August’s Olympic Games we will have the opportunity to see Gabigol join a dream trio that many Brazilian fans hope will lead them to glory over the next decade. Nobody in Rio can boast a deadlier forward-line than one made up of Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Gabigol.

Brazil are hosting the Olympics for the first time in the country’s history. The quest for gold in the football competition has become a national obsession as it remains the one title for which the Selecao are eligible that they are yet to win.
