Raheem Sterling 'happy' at Liverpool amid exit rumours - Brendan Rodgers

LIVERPOOL -- Brendan Rodgers insists that Raheem
Sterling "loves" playing at Liverpool despite reports that the
winger is stalling over a new contract.
Chief executive Ian Ayre is in discussions with the 20-year-
old's representatives to extend a deal that currently runs until
2017.
But even though Rodgers revealed in early October that talks
had begun, there is still no indication that a contract will be
signed soon.
Reports in two British newspapers on Wednesday suggested
that Sterling had rejected an offer of 70,000 pounds a week,
which is believed to be more than double his current salary.
The England international has been linked with Real Madrid
and Paris Saint-Germain, but he is content on Merseyside,
according to Rodgers.
"I think that if you look at Raheem's performances, that will
do the talking," he said. "And I think you'll see at the moment
that he's very happy.
"He's at a club he loves being at. He enjoys playing here. He's
been given opportunities as a young player."
Sterling, who joined Liverpool from QPR's academy at the
age of 15 in 2010, has become a fixture in the first team at
Anfield over the last 12 months having made his debut in 2012.
The winger signed his current contract in December 2012, and
the club are keen to improve his terms to reflect his increased
role.
"It's between the club and his representatives to sort out a
deal. But there's certainly been no unhappiness," Rodgers
added.
"I know Raheem very well. I see him training and I see him
playing. At this moment in time, you can see he's happy. I'm
sure that will get sorted out in time."
