MIA’s upcoming fifth album, AIM, has been stuck in purgatory for a while now (so much so, that she recently threatened to leak it), but a promising new taste of the project is finally here.
The Sri Lanken rapper teamed up with Skrillex and Blaqstarr for “Go Off,” which finds her boasting in a heavily distorted voice over Skrillex’s signature wild synths. The track debuted on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show on Thursday, and during the subsequent interview, M.I.A. confirmed to Mac that AIM will likely be her final studio album.
She also called the album her “cleanest” to date, saying, “I just wanted it to be happy. There’s no complaints on it. There’s another side to me completely, I don’t know if people know that.”
It drops September 9.
