The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria
on Monday in Abuja said it would crack down on quacks
in the nation’s engineering profession.
The President of COREN, Mr Kashim Ali, said this at
the 2013/2014 graduation ceremony of National Power
Training Institute of Nigeria graduate skills development
programme.
“The days of quacks in the engineering profession are
numbered as the Council will be sitting very soon to try
erring engineers,” he said.
He added that all emerging engineering firms must be
registered before they could practise in the country.
Ali said the Council was collaborating with the Nigerian
Society of Engineers toward enhancing the salary of
engineers in the country.
He urged the graduands to abide by the ethics of the
profession and make use of the skills they had acquired
during the training.
“You must demonstrate that the money spent on you was
not a waste,” he said.
