Microsoft is reportedly working on a new Lumia flagship
smartphone, which appears to be a sequel to Lumia 1020,
inheriting the PureView camera technology.
Earlier in September, Jo Harlow, Microsoft's corporate
vice president of Phones Business Unit had confirmed that
a camera smartphone with PureView brand is in the
works.
"Absolutely- we are not end of the mission in camera
technology, or in computation photography. We continue to
invest on that area to bring the next greatest thing in high
end imaging," Harlow said.
Now a bunch of fresh photos of the Lumia smartphone,
very similar in appearance to the Lumia 1020, have
appeared in a Chinese site. The mysterious Lumia device
with model number Nokia RM-1025, as noted in the
leaked screenshot, shows a similar design tone and camera
bump and is crafted into a sleek aluminium body, reports
Geekongadgets.
As for the tech specs, the successor to Lumia 1020 that goes
by the name Lumia 1030 has 32GB internal storage, 2GB
RAM, quad-core processor, 5in 1080p screen and is
powered with Windows Phone 8.1.
This prototype Lumia smartphone in the photos could be
Microsoft's cancelled McLaren flagship handset that was
expected to usher in Kinect-like features. Internally known
as 3D Touch or Real Motion, the McLaren handset was
rumoured to have multiple sensors on it, enabling the 3D
Touch system. The McLaren is said to be seen as a Lumia
1020 successor having a powerful camera.
What is evident in these leaked photos is on-screen buttons
instead of physical buttons. This could indicate that the
smartphone is a McLaren, as the McLaren smartphone is
likely to support floating off-screen gestures that do not
require users to touch the display.
UPDATE: The Lumia 1030 will have an even higher
resolution camera sensor than the Lumia 1020, at 50
megapixel, according to the new tip received by
NokiaPowerUser . The report further suggests that
Toshiba will manufacture the sensor for Lumia 1030, like it
did for Lumia 1020, Lumia 1520 and Lumia 930. The
camera for Lumia 1030 will feature fourth generation short
pulse LED flash.
