The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko,
has said the Peoples Democratic Party in his state has
been transformed into a mega party following the
harmonization of the party’s state executive committee.
Mimiko, who spoke in Abuja on Friday, however, urged
the members of the National Working Committee of the
party to cross check future complaints from the state from
the new executive to avoid what he called duplication of
party platforms, especially now that the general election is
few months away.
Mimiko spoke with journalists at the national headquarters
of the party shortly after the inauguration of a new Ondo
state executive committee of the PDP in the state.
Crisis erupted within the ranks of the party when Mimiko
defected to the PDP from the Labour Party with his
supporters.
This led to a legal action which has now been resolved.
The governor however called on the Clement Faboyede-
led committee to fashion out panacea to challenges plaguing
the party in the state.
He said, “I plead with the NWC to cross check
complaints from the state, now that there is unifying
platform, to avoid multiplicity of platforms, few months to
elections.
“I know we can’t afford to go into such elections with a
divided house, but now we must congratulate each other
for being able to come together without any rancour.”
He explained that the inauguration of the new leadership
has ended all previous litigation instituted by members of
the party in the court of law.
National chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, in
his speech, lauded the out-going chairman, Ebenezer Alabi
saying the party will not forget their sacrifice.
Mu’azu, who was represented by the national scribe of the
party, Prof. Wale Oladipo said “the south west will
now be in the drivers seat come 2015 general elections.”
