Suspended Tukur Won't Appeal His Suspension

Barely 24 hours after former National Chairman of the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bamanga
Tukur, was suspended for one month by the National
Working Committee of the PDP, Tukur has said he is
ready to face the party’s disciplinary committee.
The embattled former chairman of the ruling party,
while speaking with journalists on Friday over his
suspension, also said that he remains a loyal party
member and staunch supporter of President Goodluck
Jonathan despite his suspension.
Tukur stated that he was ready to abide by the decision
of PDP’s disciplinary committee with regards to his
suspension.

It would be recalled that the suspension of
Tukur and an aspirant to the House of Representatives,
Alhaji Aliyu Gurin, both of whom are from Adamawa
State, is to last one month.
Their suspension was sequel to a case filed by Gurin in
which he is seeking the sacking of the Acting National
Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Muazu.

Tukur, who is a defendant in the suit, aligned himself
with the prayer of Gurin.
The case, which had been thrown out of the Federal
High Court in Abuja, is however pending at the Court
of Appeal.
After the suspension of the two men, the party also
referred their case to the National Disciplinary
Committee for infringing on section 58(1)(a)( b)( h)( l) of
the PDP Constitution 2012( as amended).
Tukur has now said that he was ready to face
disciplinary committee if the party so decides, regretting
however that the party took such action without hearing
from him as a founding member of the party.

He explained that there was no way he could have
sponsored a case to remove the party chairman because
as a founding member of the party and a Board of
Trustee member, he was conversant with the party’s
law.
He however explained that he will not petition
the party’s action but will abide by their decision, noting
that he expects the party to do the needful.
