Amosun, Ahmed Clinch APC Tickets

Latest reports informed that Governors Ibikunle
Amosun and Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, on Thursday
emerged the All Progressives Congress, APC’s,
governorship candidates for the 2015 general
elections in Ogun and Kwara States respectively.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN,
Amosun scored 3,554 votes from the 3,861 delegates
who participated in the state chapter of the party’s
primary election.
As a result, the incumbent governor has now become the
sole candidate of the APC in next year’s guber election.
It was gathered that the exercise was also dully
supervised by state and national representatives of the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),
headed by Mr Kehinde Mustapha.
Speaking after the election, Amosun described the
exercise as a peaceful one and also a call on him to do
more for the people of the state.
“What happened today is a demonstration to what
APC stands for; we must abide by the rule of the game
which says that primaries must be conducted.
“It is a call for further service to the people of Ogun;
they have given me the mandate to continue the
service that we have been rendering to the people of
Ogun.

“No one person can do it alone; it will take collective
responsibility of all of us; all the support you have
been giving to us will not be taken for granted and we
will continue to serve you better,” he said.

Reacting to the news of his deputy, Mr Segun
Adesegun, who also declared his intention to contest the
governorship seat under the platform of Social
Democratic Party (SDP), Amosun said it was one
of the beauties of democracy which should be
encouraged.
In Kwara State, incumbent Governor Ahmed won the
APC Governorship Primaries with a total of 3,016
votes.
It was disclosed that the venue of the exercise, the main
bowl of Kwara stadium, was filled with delegates from
the 16 local governments who merely came to vote for
the sole candidate of the party.
Declaring the result of the voting exercise, the leader of
the national delegation of APC, Prince Azu Uwandu
said the incumbent governor scored total of 3,016 valid
votes cast,while nine of the votes were invalid.
In his acceptance speech, Ahmed thanked the delegates
for coming to elect him as the governorship of the party.
He said the government has done a lot in the areas of
infrastructural development health, education among
others.

He said the government will support youth
empowerment to further drive job for the people of the
state.
In his remark, the political leader of Kwara state and
Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial
District, Dr Abubakar Bulola Saraki commended the
delegates for conducting themselves peacefully during and
after the primaries.
He advised them to continue to work hard until the
governor and presidents of APC are elected in
February 2015 and assured them of the total support of
the party for better development and prosperity in the
state.
