Coldplay Breaking Up? Their Next Album Is Their Last

It’s such a shame for them to part,
but all good things must come to an end.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin hinted
that the legendary alternative rock band
will part ways after the release of their
seventh studio album, comparing it
to being like ‘the last Harry Potter book’.
From releasing smash hits like “Yellow” to more recently “A
Sky Full of Stars,” Coldplay has taken the music scene by
storm while stealing a handful of Grammys in the process.
Experimenting with different sounds and instruments
throughout their time as a group, Coldplay has become one
of the most influential bands of the time. But alas, the
British band is slating their seventh album to be their last,
according to frontman Chris Martin, 37.
Coldplay Breaking Up? Chris Martin Says
Next Album Will Be The Last
“It’s our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it’s like
the last Harry Potter book or something like that,” Chris said
to People about their final album, which is tentatively
titled A Head Full of Dreams.

“Not to say that there might not be another thing one day,
but this is the completion of something. Now we are making
things that sound different. It’s just a very fun time to be in
our band,” Chris continued.
Don’t worry too much Coldplay fans, you’ll still have the
chance to see them perform live! Chris said that after the
new album is released the band will go on tour. It sounds
like they are not entirely shutting out the possibility of
reuniting in the future either! Rather, they want to go out
with a bang and not fall short of their talents.
“I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing.
Otherwise, we wouldn’t put everything into it,” Chris said.
While we’re getting a little teary eyed at the possibility of
the band breaking up, we can at least look forward to
their next album! We’re extremely curious to see which
direction it will take, as their last album used more
electronic influences while past albums have had more of a
poppy ballad feel. We can’t wait!
Meanwhile, Coldplay is up for best pop vocal album and
best pop duo/group performance awards at the 2015
Grammy Awards on Feb. 8.
