Ribadu Wins Adamawa PDP Guber Ticket

Nuhu Ribadu, on Monday reportedly won the
governorship ticket of the ruling Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) in Adamawa state.

The former Chairman of the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission, EFCC, clinched the ticket after
defeating six other contestants which include the state
governor, Bala Ngilari in an election which held at the
Old Parade ground, Abuja.

It was gathered that the PDP National Working
Committee, NWC, moved the primaries to Abuja after
Ngilari was accused by a panel sent to the state to
conduct primary election for state Assembly aspirants of
holding them hostage.
The chairman of the election panel, Rufai Hanga, who
announced the result on Monday, said the former
EFCC boss scored 688 votes while Governor Ngilari
got only 26 votes.

However, Awwal Tukur, the son of the former
chairman of the party, Mr. Bamanga Tukur, scored 24
votes, while the former Executive Secretary of the
Universal Basic Education, Commission, UBEC,
Ahmed Modibbo, got 30 votes as well as retired
General Aliyu Kama, who got 3 votes.
Meanwhile, Marcus Gundiri, a guber aspirant who
contested for governor on the platform of the defunct
Action Congress of Nigeria in the 2011 election, scored
33 votes.
Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that Ribadu who
recently defected from the APC and seven other
governorship aspirants stepped down from the race for
the gubernatorial ticket, under the platform of the
PDP.
It would be recalled that Governor Rabi’u Kwanwaso
of Kano State had earlier lambasted the former
EFCC chairman, saying the PDP has made him a
laughing stock by allegedly dropping him from the
Adamawa gubernatorial race.
