CHUKWU: NFF SHOULD DECIDE ON EAGLES COACH

Former Coach of the Super Eagles Christian Chukwu has
called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to as a
matter of urgency break the silence on the issue of who
leads the Super Eagles coach.
Chukwu who spoke to Complete Sports said since Stephen
Keshi's contract as Head coach of the Super Eagles
elapsed with the World Cup in Brazil, there was the need
to either renew his contract or announce a new one or
better still make a statement.
The former captain of the Green Eagles said it is sad that
the Super Eagles will be missing at next year's Africa Cup
of Nations, saying life must go on with or without
AFCON in Equatorial Guinea and make plans for the
future.
"Keshi does not have a contract with the NFF now so
the issue of his resigning is out of it. Keshi cannot resign
because his contract has not been renewed. I think the
NFF should put the AFCON behind and plan ahead for
forth coming games" he stated
Chukwu continued "This is the time for NFF to appoint a
new coach or reappoint Keshi so that we can move on. It
is not right to keep silent on the coaches' issue because we
failed to qualify for AFCON. A coach should be on
ground now for Super Eagles".
On the draw with South Africa, Chukwu said it was
very painful because the ticket was in Nigeria's hand to
qualify for AFCON adding the Eagles played well but
did not take their chances and the Bafana Bafana took
theirs and got a draw.
He said that there was no need to overhaul the team as
people are clamouring for stressing that we have to build on
what we have on ground now.
"All the players cannot be thrown away just because we
failed to qualify for AFCON, I still believe that a lot of
those boys are still good for the Super Eagles and age is
still on their side. Whatever we are doing now should
include a great number of those players" the former Enugu
Rangers FC great concluded.
