Woman shot in Chicago department store dies of injuries

CHICAGO - A woman who was shot by her
ex-boyfriend at a Chicago high-end
department store during post-Thanksgiving
shopping has died.
CBS Chicago reported Nadia Ezaldein, 22, of
Hialeah, Fla., was pronounced dead Saturday
afternoon according to officials. The Cook
County Medical Examiner identified the
gunman as 31-year-old Marcus Dee.
Police say Dee walked up to a cosmetics
counter at Nordstrom's on Chicago's
Magnificent Mile on Friday as shoppers
swarmed the store during the Black Friday
holiday shopping rush and shot Ezaldein, who
was a seasonal employee, before turning the
gun on himself. He was pronounced dead at
the scene.
Shoppers stampeded for the exits to the store,
which is located in Chicago's North Bridge
mall.
"The staff said to just run -- there's an
emergency," said student You Li, 24, of
Omaha, Neb., who was on a Black Friday
shopping trip with her mother.
Police have not said what the motive for the
shooting was, other than that it was a
domestic dispute.
The Nordstrom store remained closed on
Saturday. A spokeswoman for the Seattle
based company the business would review its
safety plans.
"Our number one priority is sending our best
wishes to our employee and her family,
thinking about all of the employees and
customers who were impacted here... so
business is not part of that conversation right
now or part of that decision," said Nordstrom
spokeswoman Tara Darrow.
